New England Challenge FAQ

Are the courses flat?

The courses are scenic and beautiful; however, our only true flat course would be the Old Colony Marathon in Massachusetts.

 

Are these races chip timed? Are the courses USATF certified? Are these races Boston Qualifiers?

Yes to all three questions!

 

Do I have to do all six marathons?

No, you can register anywhere from one race to all six.

 

Do you have early starts?

No, all our races start at 6AM.

 

Do you have a time limit?

There is no time limit.

 

How often do you have water stops?

All of our races have one aid station right next to the start/finish line. We also have a secondary water station for our Granite State Marathon (Nashua, New Hampshire). Check out our race information for the length of each loop.

 

What kind of food do you provide?

All kinds of food!

Everyday: Chips, Cookies, Pretzels, Peanut M&M’s, Jelly Beans, Energy Balls, Salted Baby Potatoes & Sandwiches (Peanut Butter & Jelly, Turkey & Cheese and Ham & Cheese)

Specials (Each day we would have 2 to 3 of the following menu items available): Vegetarian Pesto Pasta Salad, Sweet & Sour Meatballs, Hotdogs with Caramelized Onions, Pork Spring Rolls, Veggie & Tofu Spring Rolls, Chicken Noodle Soup, Veggie Chili and Pasta with Meatballs in Red Sauce

 

Can I defer for next year?

Yes, you can defer for one year.

 

Can I transfer my race registration to someone else?

Yes, you can!

 

If I'm doing the full series, what is the best airport to fly into?

The closest international airport to the Pine Tree Marathon (Portland, Maine) is the Logan Airport in Boston at about 100 miles away. Logan Airport is also about 63 miles away from our last race in the series Red Island State Marathon (Warwick, Rhode Island).

 

Do you provide accommodations for the race?

No, but we do have host hotels with price quotes. If you're looking to share a room, our facebook page is a great resource to finding other runners.

 

What's the swag?

For each race, you will receive a medal. If you complete all six races (the entire series), you will get in addition to the six medals from each race, a seventh huge one. You will also receive a shirt from the series.

 

How much is each race?

Until December 27, 2019, the full marathon is $100 and the half marathon is $85. After that and until May83, the full marathon will cost $115 and the half marathon will cost $100. After that and until race day, the full marathon will cost $130 and the half marathon will cost $115. For race day registration, the full marathon will cost $145 and the half marathon $130.

Do you accept race day registration?

Yes, just arrive at least 30 minutes early to fill out the paperwork.
